Liverpool have done some smart business in the recent transfer window.
The manager added a number of quality players to the squad in the likes of Sadio Mane, Marko Grujic, Joel Matip, Loris Karius and Ragnar Klavan and will be expecting to have a decent shot at a place in the top-4 spots at the end of the season.
They have been even better with their sales having managed to get rid of the likes of Jordan Ibe, Christian Benteke and Joe Allen on big money moves.
However, one player who represented a substantial loss for Liverpool in just two years is the Italian maverick, Mario Balotelli.
Having moved to Liverpool under Brendan Rodgers, Balotelli cost Liverpool around the £16m mark and more in wages.
Though he was loaned out last season, he was not impressive enough to earn a permanent stay in his home country and Klopp was left with the job of offloading the player before the end of the deadline day.
The manager finally got his chance to sell the player permanently and decided to let Balotelli go on a free transfer to French outfit Nice.
The fact that Liverpool were robbed of £16m in just two years angered many fans over the week after the deadline day but it is now understood that Liverpool may yet profit from his sale in further years.
According to a recent report, Liverpool have inserted a 30% sell out clause in Balotelli’s contract with Nice.
It is understood that this clause will help Liverpool recover a portion of the profits that Nice might make in the future by the sale of the maverick.
It is an interesting choice by Klopp as he decided to sell him on a free but is open to the possibility of Balotelli finding some form and earning big bucks in the future.
Though the amount may not be substantial, it will be a bonus having though that the player was sold on a free before the new about the clause broke out.
So Klopp’s business decisions are looking wiser and wiser by the day. Do you think Klopp should have demanded a price for Balotelli straight away?
