Both the Premier League clubs stand at 42 major trophies and as the most decorated English sides in Europe
With Liverpool winning their 6th UCL title they are now again level with Manchester United as the most decorated English sides in World Football.
Liverpool’s last title had come in 2012 winning the League cup under Kenny Dalglish. The win over Tottenham Hotspur saw them going above Barcelona and Bayern Munich (5 UCL Titles) clinching their 6th UCL title.
Liverpool had lost 3 finals previously under Klopp including the 2016 League Cup Final against Manchester City, 2016 Europa League Final against Sevilla and 2018 Champions League Final against Real Madrid C.F .
Manchester united had a trophy-less season this year but have won more trophies than Liverpool in the past decade.

The final played between Liverpool and Tottenham would anyway take England to the second spot in the number of UCL wins by nations, with Spain at top; 18 wins and Italy at third with 12 wins.
Liverpool had a tough ride in the UCL this year with being drawed in the group with PSG and Napoli, it was very tough to be in the top two positions of the group to qualify. Liverpool won and lost one match each with all the 3 other teams in the group. They managed to finish second in the group stage behind PSG.
In the round of 16 Liverpool had drawn Bayern Munich also known as The Mighty Bavarians. This was going to be a very tough battle between two very good sides in the span of 2 legs. The first leg was played in Anfield and the match ended in a goal-less draw. In the second leg Liverpool hammered Bayern over a 3-1 victory, and further qualified to the quarterfinals.
In the quarterfinals Liverpool had an easy win over F.C Porto with an aggregate score of 6-1.

Now, they were to phase F.C Barcelona in the semifinals, the toughest tie until now in this year’s campaign. The first leg saw them losing 3-0 in the Camp Nou. In the return leg in Anfield they gave their all and with an amazing support of the fans, they pulled over a miraculous 4-0 victory over F.C Barcelona and moved to to the finals.
Tottenham Hotspur who also had pulled of a second leg magical away comeback against Ajax by scoring in the 95th minute of the game were to face Liverpool in the finals.
The final was won by Liverpool 2-0 with Tottenham having the major posession and attempts on goal, while two decisive strikes by Salah and Origi won them their 6th UCL Title.
