Brendan Rodgers has decided to inflict misery for Manchester United in the transfer market by telling the Liverpool bosses to prepare mega bids for primary United targets Memphis Depay and William Carvalho.

Rodgers has identified Carvalho and Depay as the ideal signings to take the Anfield club further forward next season. With Gerrard’s departure from the club, Liverpool are in the market for a box-box-box midfield player who can play alongside Jordan Henderson and Carvalho is one of the very best in that role at the moment.

Carvalho, valued at £30 million by Sporting Lisbon has been scouted on multiple occasions by Manchester United in the past and a bid is imminent in the upcoming transfer window but now the red devils will have to be wary of their rivals Liverpool as they are ready to compete with United for the signature of Portuguese midfield player.

More than Carvalho, Liverpool are planning to hurt United by going after PSV star Memphis Depay. It is widely courted that Depay is tipped be Van Gaal’s first signing of the next transfer window. Van Gaal and Depay share a special relationship as the Dutch manager gave young star his world cup debut at the 2014 FIFA World Cup. Depay himself fancies a move to Old Trafford as he recently favored a tweet which read about him joining United next season.

Liverpool hierarchy has been told by Brendan Rodgers to go all-out for Depay as Rodgers sees the pacey winger an ideal player for his system. Rodgers loves to play with wing-backs and Depay with his speed and energy could be the perfect fit. Depay has been valued at around £20-25 million by PSV.

William Carvalho and Memphis Depay will trigger a massive transfer battle between Football’s most hated rivals, Manchester United and Liverpool. Although for now, United hold the edge over the reds for both the players’ signing but things can turn around very quickly in modern football and Liverpool fans would hope to put one over United by signing either of the two stars if not both.
