Liverpool player ratings in the 5-4 thriller at Carrow Road
Liverpool’s trip to the Carrow Road in recent times has always been entertaining and this season, both the teams produced a thriller with as many as 9 goals scored as Liverpool took away all three points with a cruel winner in the dying minutes of injury time.
There were many individual performances that set the stage alight. Here are the player ratings for the Liverpool team against Norwich City:
Simon Mignolet (2.5):
Should have done a lot more to keep out Steven Naismith’s shot from an acute angle but showed some great command in the final few minutes of the game when his team needed him.
Nathaniel Clyne (3):
Hardly gave the Norwich City attackers any space down his flank as he kept it tight and solid while also providing some width in the attacks at times in the final third.
Kolo Toure (2.5):
Gave away the ball too many times as he was brittle in possession but did well to negate the ariel threat of Norwich City whenever a ball was played into the box.
Mamadou Sakho (2.5):
Made a lot of fouls and put his team under pressure with set-pieces but showed his ariel ability winning most of the air balls played around him.
Alberto Moreno (2):
Apart from giving away a cheap penalty, the Spaniard also struggled to keep with Norwich’s attack and was often caught out of position. However, lent a great hand going forward.
Lucas Leiva (3):
Sat in front of the back four to provide some good support and never allowed the Canaries to attack from the middle giving his defenders great cover in the mid-field.
Emre Can (2.5):
Sat back deep to lend a hand in defense but was far too often just a spectator as the game flew past him in the mid-field.
Jordan Henderson (3);
Got himself a well stuck goal and was also involved in a lot of the good things that were happening for the Reds in the final third.
James Milner (2.5):
Was wasteful of many chances but slotted away an easy one on one to give Liverpool the lead. However, needs to improve on his finishing and the final ball in attack.
Jordan Ibe (2):
Was hardly involved in the game and rarely had a chance to use his pace and was quickly replaced in the second half.
Roberto Firmino (3.5):
Finally proving his worth, Roberto Firmino picked up an important brace for his side and also got himself an assist in a man of the match performance as he saw his team come back from a losing position to pick up all three points.
Adam Lallana (3):
Came in for Jordan Ibe early in the second half and took the game to the home side straight away. Made a number of runs in behind the defense and also slotted home the winner late into injury time to give his side a victory.
Christian Benteke (2.5):
Provided some ariel strength in the dying moments of the game but failed to create any impact on the game.
Steven Caulker (2.5):
Was bought in to use his height in both the boxes. Should have blocked the last goal for Norwich but had a role to play in Lallana’s goal at the other end.
