Liverpool have held off stiff competition from Manchester United and Southampton to secure the services of highly-rated France youth international Yasser Larouci on a free transfer from Le Harve.
As reported by Goal.com, the youngster is expected to link up with Jurgen Klopp’s side once all of the paperwork has been finalised and is due on Merseyside this week to complete the switch.
The Algerian-born starlet had previously been on trial at Southampton, just before Christmas, and he also caught the eye of Old Trafford scouts but it’s the Merseysiders he’s opted to join.
Highly recognised as an attacking winger, the Frenchman can also be utilised through the middle as well as out wide and it’s these attributes that caught the eye of Liverpool scouts.
The Reds are expected to utilise a lot more of their academy products over the next season or two and the likes of Trent Alexander-Arnold, Ben Woodburn and Kevin Stewart have made their mark throughout this campaign.
The trio have often impressed when given a starting berth, normally in the League Cup, and Larouci will be looking to follow in their footsteps once he links up with the academy squad.
It could be something of a coup for Liverpool as Le Harve are cultivating quite a reputation for producing talent. In August, Paul Pogba completed a world-record move back to Manchester United but he started out at the Ligue 2 club.
Dimitri Payet, Lassana Diarra and Riyad Mahrez are just three recent Le Harve graduates who have made an impression in the England with the latter lifting the Premier League trophy in May for Leicester City.
