According to latest reports, Liverpool are preparing a bid for Juventus’ star midfielder Andrea Pirlo as a step towards replacing Steven Gerrard who is set to leave Anfield at the end of the season.

Pirlo currently has one year left in his contrct for Italian giants Juventus and Liverpool are hoping to get him on a cut-price deal for the next season. Pirlo’s passing and free-kick ability meant that he has the potential to replace Steven Gerrard for the Reds until a permanent solution is found.

The 35-year old maestro is also drawing interest from Premier Leeague Champions Chelsea and various MLS clubs as they are optimistic of a switch to the league which now has th likes of Lampard, Gerrard and Kaka.

Even at 35, Pirlo is excellent as he has dictated the play against Real Madrid in the latest Champions League encounter last week. The player have already admitted that he might not stay at Juventus beyond the current season.

It will not be easy for Liverpool as they have to fight off the competition from Chelsea if the midfielder fancies a move to Premier League leaving behind MLS where he could earn a lot.
