Liverpool is reportedly desperate to sign Belgian club Anderlecht’s young midfield star Dennis Praet this month as Klopp doesn’t want to wait till summer window.
Several reports over the weekend linked Anderlecht’s midfield ace Praet with a £22m move to Anfield. The 21-year-old’s agent, Jacques Lichtenstein, also informed Dutch news outlet Voetbal International: “What can he gain by spending one more season at Anderlecht?
“He has already played for three years and has contributed to three back-to-back league titles.”
According to a report from Belgian newspaper HLN last week, Jurgen Klopp was interested to splash out huge sum in an attempt to land the gifted youngster.
It is believed the charismatic German boss has been scouting Praet since the youngster impressed him against Borussia Dortmund in Anderlecht’s 2014 Champions League tie with the Bundesliga club. The 21-year-old midfielder have netted 23 times in 154 matches for the Belgian outfit and in the process guided the club to win back to back league titles.
Now Klopp expects that the Anfield chiefs will sanction whatever the fund it is to complete a potential transfer deal for the Belgium international this month as the German boss doesn’t want to wait for the summer window as Italian giants Juventus are also interested to sign such a gifted midfield option and they even sent their scouts to watch Praet in the match between Gent and Anderlecht.
Another Serie A club Fiorentina also made contact with Anderlecht to finalise a potential transfer for the young midfielder but were eventually put off by the player’s €30million price tag.
Jurgen Klopp has already snapped up Marko Grujic from Red Star Belgrade and young Polish goalkeeper Kamil Grabara during this January transfer window.
Liverpool have also managed to secure a loan deal for England international Steven Caulker.
Back in 2010, Praet snubbed the Reds arch rivals Arsenal after insisting he did not want to disrupt his education by switching to London at such a young age. His current contract with Anderlecht runs until 2017 and there is a huge possibility that the Belgian club will be interested to raise their funds by selling such an amazing talent.
