Liverpool have reportedly placed a new wage system in the youth academy which will restrict the teenage players from earning too much money, according to Daily Telegraph.
The club’s new system would see 17-year-old first-season professionals not earn more than £40,000 in basic salary, however it could increase based on bonuses and the performances they make during the season or at other clubs on loan.
The sudden shift is to make sure that the club will get players who are keen to make it to first team than the players who are keen to earn more money.
