Liverpool star makes huge admission: No one has ever seen this at Anfield 1

James Milner believes Liverpool’s current team spirit is the best he has ever seen.

The retired England international has had a solid career at the likes of Leeds, Aston Villa, and Manchester City.

But now at Anfield under Jurgen Klopp, the 30-year-old is part of a strong core that’s seen the Reds start the season well.

Liverpool has won three of their opening five Premier League games and have covered most distance out of any team, showing their drive.

Without the added pressure of European football this season, a title is within reach, and Milner believes the Reds have the ultimate quality and togetherness now to compete.

“I’ve been fortunate to play in a lot of good teams,” Milner told Liverpool’s official website.

“The thing this team has is a lot of quality but the team spirit and togetherness of how we play. I think we play as a team probably better than any team I’ve been involved in, or as good as any other team I’ve played in.

“With and without the ball, people knowing their jobs, and getting around the ball and winning the ball back as a team as well.

“In the way we play, if one person doesn’t do it the whole system breaks down – both with and without the ball. Everyone has to be on the same page.”

Klopp’s sides have always been full of energy, especially from his days at Borussia Dortmund.

And since arriving at Liverpool, the manager has put plenty of faith in Milner, even reverting him to left-back this term due to his reliability.

Milner is expected to start today when the Reds take on Hull in only their second game at Anfield this season.

Meanwhile, Liverpool will attempt to ruin Hull manager Mike Phelan’s birthday and win four consecutive games under Jurgen Klopp for just the third time on Saturday.

Both sides won in the EFL Cup in midweek, with Hull coming back to win in stoppage time at Stoke to continue their encouraging start to the season.

They will have to break new ground if they are to succeed at Anfield too, however, having never won in 10 previous visits and drawn just two of those games.

If they can upset the odds, Hull will give caretaker manager Phelan victory on his 54th birthday – but Liverpool are strong at home and have lost just once in their last 14 Premier League games there.

Liverpool midfielders Adam Lallana and Gini Wijnaldum are set to return for the visit of Hull.

The pair were rested for the midweek EFL Cup win over Derby, with striker Daniel Sturridge also sitting that out after missing training with a niggle which could put his place against the Tigers in doubt.

Goalkeeper Simon Mignolet is expected to start between the sticks, despite summer signing Loris Karius making his competitive debut and keeping a clean sheet against the Rams.
