Raheem Sterling has decided to anger Liverpool fans by turning down the massive £180,000-a-week contract and look for options else where. Sterling, who has been seen as the main man to lead Liverpool in the coming years has grown frustrated with the positional shifts Brendan Rodgers has asked him to play in.

Amid the contract dispute, Arsenal have emerged the favorite side to sign Sterling from Liverpool. Arsene Wenger is having to deal with Theo Walcott’s contract situation and it is widely believed that Wenger feels Sterling could be the much advanced replacement for Walcott ans is ready to press ahead with the deal.

Sterling has recently come out and bashed and Liverpool’s future ambitions. It all follows after Liverpool failed to pursue Alexis Sanchez to sign for the Anfield club. In an exclusive interview with Guardian, Sterling said: “When Alexis Sanchez chose to sign for some one else, I knew Liverpool will never give me a career which will allow me to play with best and compete at the highest level”

Sterling continued and said: “They (Arsenal) are a fantastic club with great players. They have the capability to win Championships. Every player has a dream to play for them. we will see what happens in the summer”.

Sterling’s refusal to sign the new contract comes after Liverpool were well beaten by Manchester United which has now ended their hops of finishing in top 4 and qualify for the Champions League next season. Sterling at the moment does not want to miss out a single season of European football and Arsenal are willing to meet hs wages demand along with giving him his preferred position to play in.

Raheem Sterling has been closely monitored by Bayern Munich as Real Madrid as well but their claim to sign the England starlet has suffered a blow after the player has expressed his desires to stay in England and continue his professional career. Manchester City have moved themselves out of the race as Pellegrini believes City will have to pay extra for Sterling since he is Englishman.

These all points suggest that Arsenal are now the firm favorites to sign Sterling as he has refused to commit his future with Liverpool. Sterling would add teh extra edge to Arsene Wenger’s playbook and perhaps will be the final piece in making Arsenal a championship winning side.
