Liverpool star reveals WhatsApp chat with new £34million Chelsea signing

Liverpool star Robarto Firmino has expressed his surprise at the return of David Luiz to Chelsea, according to Daily Mail.

The Brazilian defender made his second debut for Chelsea in 1-2 loss against Liverpool, following his £34million return from Paris Saint-Germain on deadline day.

“He’s my amigo,” said the attacker, who plays with the ex-PSG man at international level.

”I don’t get the chance to see him in person a lot but I speak to him on WhatsApp whenever I can.”

”I was a little bit surprised when he came back to England but he is a great player.”

The 29-year-old centre-half was impressive in partnering Gary Cahill for the first time in two years, despite Antonio Conte’s first loss in charge of the West London outfit.

Liverpool No.11 has been in outstanding form for Jurgen Klopp’s man so far this season – scoring twice during a man-of-the-match display against Leicester last weekend.

“I’ve been quite hyperactive since I was a child,” Firmino added.

“I’m always moving and that has always been the case since I was a boy. Nowadays that is the only way you can play football.

“You have to be on the move. You have to go full on from the first minute.

“Our manager wants each of us to be like a runner. Don’t stop. Never stop. Keep going. That is the way it is for him and that is the way I like to play.

“If you do what he asks you to do, you will never let him down.”

The curly-haired Brazilian received a warm ovation prior to the match against Liverpool. A popular figure at Stamford Bridge, Chelsea fans were clearly delighted to have him back.

However, that joy quickly turned to agony for the home fans as Conte’s men found themselves 2-0 down at half-time courtesy of goals from Dejan Lovren and a stunning strike from Jordan Henderson.

Chelsea hit back early in the second half as Diego Costa turned the ball into the net from close range after good work from Nemanja Matic down the left-hand side.

But they couldn’t complete a comeback and it ended up as a losing return for the former Paris Saint-Germain man.

It was a haphazard first half for Luiz as he combined a number of missed chances with a couple of moments of madness, while Chelsea looked completely out of the contest.

But as Conte’s men grew into the game, so did he, although there were still hints of the defensive fragility of old, which his Italian manager will do well to iron out.

There’s no denying Luiz will win Chelsea games with his dangerous leap from set-pieces and his gung-ho attitude to attacking, but there is still a feeling he will cost them just as many points as he’ll earn.

For a £34 million player, you might expect better.
