Liverpool mid-fielder Jordan Henderson is set to commit his long term future to the Reds by signing a new four year contract which will see him earn £100,000-a-week.
Latest reports suggest that there has been a breakthrough in the contract talks in the last few days as Henderson is expected is expected to succeed Steven Gerrard as the latter will depart to LA Galaxy this summer.
Henderson have declined the contract worth £80,000-a-week a month ago which saw clubs like Chelsea and Barcelona get interested in the player as he has only one year left in his current contract.
“Jordan Henderson is ready to commit his long-term future to Liverpool by signing a new £100,000-a-week deal. It now seems likely he will seal the four-year deal by the end of the season,” the report states.
The mid-fielder’s new contract extension will come as a relief to Brendan Rodgers as he is aiming at both Sterling and Skrtel to commit their future to Liverpool. Brendan Rodgers is ready to build a team around the younger generation with the likes of sterling, Henderson, Lallana and Coutinho as the pivots for the team’s success for the future.
The new contract meant that the midfielder will replace the Reds’ skipper Steven Gerrard for the foreseeable future.
