Liverpool striker Mario Balotelli will stay at Anfield next season, according to his agent Mino Raiola. Balotelli moved to Liverpool last summer in a £16m deal from AC Milan, and has had a poor season to say the least. After starting regularly in the opening games of the season, Balotelli has found his name on the bench in most of the games. The Italian international was also left out of the squad in the last game of the season against Stoke City at Anfield.
Mario Balotelli has just one league goal to his name in his 16 league appearances. He might be a fifth choice striker at Anfield next season if he opts to stay as Divock Origi is expected at Anfield after spending this season on loan at Lille, Danny Ings is still expected to join Liverpool despite a late bid from Tottenham, Christian Benteke is a top priority this summer, and with Daniel Sturridge returning from fitness.
Speaking to Sky Sports News HQ, Mario Balotelli’s agent Mino Raiola confirmed he will not be leaving Anfield this summer.
“We had talks with Liverpool and he will definitely stay,” he said.
“I think Mario did (adapt),” Raiola said. “I can’t talk about Brendan Rodgers, obviously that is something for Brendan, but I think Mario did.
“I have spoken at various times to the club and they were happy with his input and professionalism. Obviously we have to improve the performance but I am really confident that will happen this year.”
Mario Balotelli is a transfer target for Serie A club Sampdoria. Sampdoria president Massimo Ferrero said: “Balotelli at Sampdoria? Should the player come to Italy we would open our doors.”
