Huge Boost: Liverpool Target Could Be On The Move This Month, Claims Agent
Liverpool have received a huge boost in their reported pursuit of RB Leipzig star Emil Forsberg as his agent has claimed the player’s future is not guaranteed with the club.
The newly-promoted team is currently second in the Bundesliga and Forsberg has played an important role in it. The 20-year old Sweden international has scored five goals and created nine others in his 15 appearances so far this term. The impressive performance has reportedly made Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp turn his attention towards the attacking midfielder after failing to sign Borussia Dortmund youngster Christian Pulisic.
The Reds are desperate to bolster their squad to keep their promising title challenge on track. Jurgen Klopp’s side is second in the Premier League but might struggle to perform well in the coming weeks due to the absence of some key players. Sadio Mane has left for Africa Cup of Nations while injury-prone striker Daniel Sturridge is injured again after picking up a knock during the 2-2 draw at Sunderland. Furthermore, Danny Ings has already been ruled out of the entire season while Philippe Coutinho is still recovering from the ankle injury. In such a scenario, Forsberg could prove to be an ideal signing.
And Liverpool’s hopes of signing the Swedish star is all set to receive a massive boost after his agent Hasan Cetinkaya claimed that his client is attracting interest from a number of top clubs and could quit the German high-flyers in the ongoing transfer window.
“I can’t promise that Emil will stay in Leipzig this winter,” Cetinkaya told German news outlet Bild.
“I have already been in meetings with major clubs regarding Forsberg.”
“One must not forget that RB are also becoming a big club. They have done fantastic, fighting for the title and heading towards the Champions League,” he added.
However, it will be interesting to see RB Leipzig’s approach in the whole matter. They are aiming for a Champions League spot and it looks highly unlikely that they will allow such an important player leave midway through the season.
