Liverpool's Striker Approach Rocked Back, Told To Pay A Staggering £50m 1

Benfica are reportedly demanding £50million from Liverpool for their striker Raul Jimenez. Squawka has reported Liverpool are interested in signing the Mexico international but will have to cough up a good fortune to sign him.

The Reds will be short on striking options in January which might derail their title bid and Jurgen Klopp is keen to bolster his frontline to maintain the promising title challenge. The Merseyside outfit is currently second in the table but might struggle to perform well in the coming weeks due to the absence of some key players. Sadio Mane has left for Africa Cup of Nations while injury-prone striker Daniel Sturridge is injured again after picking up a knock during the 2-2 draw at Sunderland. Furthermore, Danny Ings has already been ruled out of the entire season while Philippe Coutinho is still recovering from the ankle injury.

And they are eyeing the former Atletico Madrid man to solve their attacking problems. However, the striker will not come cheap as Portuguese news outlet O Jogo has claimed the deal could go ahead only if Liverpool agree to pay at least £50million. The report further stated that Benfica president Luis Filipe Vieira is keen to keep the player at the club and only a good fee will force him to change his mind.

The Mexican star, who joined the Portuguese outfit from Atletico Madrid in 2015 for around £18m, has scored 20 balls in 63 games for Benfica and it is highly unlikely that the Reds would pay such a huge fee for a striker who does not boast of a very good scoring rate.
