Liverpool Transfer Roundup: 2 Done Deals; 2 Updates And 2 New Links

Liverpool’s Premier League season is going quickly down the hill as they’ve managed to take just two points from three league games this month and were also thrown out of the League Cup in the semi-final by Southampton earlier this week.

The weaknesses in the squad are now glaringly evident and Klopp might look into the transfer window to improve the squad but with just over three days left in the window, he’ll have to act fast.

He has been linked to a number of stars recently and here are all such transfer rumors coming out of Anfield:

Gomez pens new deal:

Arguably, the biggest news of the day for the Reds is the contract extension of young Joe Gomez.

The English defender was wanted on loan by a number of clubs in England but Klopp decided to keep him at the club till the end of the season and has now offered him a new five-year contract which he duly signed.

“It was a very easy decision. It is a great club and when it was mentioned about me extending my time here, it’s not something I had to think very long about,” said Gomez after signing the contract. (Liverpool)

PSG not giving up on Coutinho:

The Brazil playmaker Philippe Coutinho signed a new five-year deal with Liverpool to stay at the club till 2022 but French giants PSG are not too bothered by this new deal.

They are desperate for attacking additions in the summer and are now looking to splash big money in the summer on transfer targets. Alexis Sanchez from Arsenal and Philippe Coutinho from Liverpool are their two biggest transfer targets for the summer transfer window. (talksport)

Left-back close to Anfield:

The Reds have just one left-back in their squad in Alberto Moreno, who is not the first choice and Jurgen Klopp has been looking at a number of players recently to add to this position.

They are now ready to make a move for Real Betis left Riza Durmisi.

Durmisi, a 23-year-old Denmark international, has played 14 times so far this season. He is expected to cost around the £17m mark and Liverpool are ready to make a bid. (Daily Mail)

Brannagan completes Fleetwood switch:

The Young English mid-fielder is one of the most entertaining players in the domestic circuit at Anfield and is looking for regular first team opportunities.

He is yet to start a game for Liverpool this season and Jurgen Klopp has decided to send him out on loan this month. The 20-year-old has now officially completed a loan switch to Fleetwood town till the end of the season with the deal already announced. (Liverpool)

Mamadou Sakho closes in on an exit:

The French defender has been frozen out of the first-team by Jurgen Klopp for his antics on the pre-season tour to the US and he is yet to make a senior appearance for the side this season.

He has accepted that his time at Anfield has come to an end and is ready to make a move this month and Premier League clubs Southampton and Crystal Palace are set to fight for his signature before the deadline day. He is expected to cost around £20m this month. (talksport)

Liverpool favorites for Carvalho:

The Reds are desperate for a mid-fielder this January and have been linked with a move for Portugal star William Carvalho recently.

Though a reliable journalist rubbished the rumors, Liverpool, are still interested in his signature and are now odds on favorites to sign him this month. They are now the hot favorites to land the £26m star this month with Manchester City the next team interested in him. (BetStar)
