As usual, at this time in a transfer window, rumors are coming in thick and fast about top clubs in Europe and deals are getting done in a jiffy. Liverpool have been one of the busier clubs in Europe with Jurgen Klopp trying to get his underperforming team back to the top of the table.

Here is a round-up of all the news coming out of Anfield today:

Jurgen Klopp who is understood to be a long time admirer of Cameroon international Joel Matip seems set to miss out on a move for the player this January. Schalke’s general manger Horst Heldt said that the player is happy in German for the moment and that a move will only be entertained in summer.

However, it is also understood that Klopp is confident of having the player line-up for the Reds for the start of the next season.

Yet another striker in Xavier Hernandez is now linked with a move to Anfield this January. The ex Red Devil striker who moved to Bayer Leverkusen last summer scored 19 goals in 25 games for the German club and it is understood that Liverpool have made him a priority before the end of this transfer window.

Hernandez would be a good addition to the squad at Liverpool and will surely make their rivals angry but it is hard to see 27-year-old move clubs within 6 months and the fact that he is will be in-eligible to play for Liverpool after having registered already for United and Leverkusen.

Chroniclelive has reported that Liverpool are monitoring Newcastle United’s goalkeeper Fred Woodman. The England Under-19 international is yet to sign a new contract with the Magpies and it is understood that Liverpool have been alerted to his progress.

In more recent news, Mirror claims that Klopp is now weighing up a move for Udinese mid-fielder Piotr Zielinski. The 21-year old is on loan at EMpoli and has caught the eye of many European Clubs in this window. Klopp is keen to wrap an £11million move for the central midfielder and had been initially looking at securing his services this January.

But Zielinski is thought to favor a move in the summer as he is settled and does not want to jeopardize his place in the Poland squad for the forthcoming European Championships.

The Reds are prepared to wait for the player till the next season.

But the biggest news of the day comes from Florida as Liverpool’s pursuit of Brzil international Alex Teixeira has all but ended. Shakthar Donetsk’s general director Sergiy Palkin, has come out and has publicly declared that he wants the player to stay in Ukraine for the season and that he is not for sale this window.

Palkin said, “Teixeira has a compensation charge in his contract – the price is €70m. Please, if someone wants him – let them come and declare themselves.”

It was also reported that manager Jurgen Klopp said that he is not going to over pay for players which makes this move all the more difficult with so less time in the transfer window.

With that move almost out of picture now, Liverpool have reportedly gone ahead in the race for a striker who is also scouted by Arsenal and Barcelona.

Celta Viga forward Nolito, has been superb for the Spanish side this season and TalkSport has reported that Liverpool have already made bid for the La Liga ace. The Spanish side are understood to be interested in selling the 29 year old and want to take full advantage of his form this window.

A £13.8 million bid is reportedly tabled as Liverpool look for the last few options to strengthen their squad as time is now running out in the January transfer window.
