Liverpool transfer rumours – Liverpool to raid Southampton and Inter again
According to Gazzetta dello Sport, Liverpool have begun talks to sign Mateo Kovacic from Inter. Liverpool had two succesive bids of €10m and €18m rejected, and are hoping to get at least €25m . Earlier in 2013, Liverpool signed Brazilian Philippe Coutinho from Inter for just £8.5 million.
According to the very reliable Gianluca Di Marzio, Rafael Benitez wants Raheem Sterling to be his first signing at the Bernabeu. It is worth noting Rafael Benitez was the manager of Liverpool when Raheem Sterling was signed from Queens Park Rangers. Earlier, Sterling’s agent Aidy ward confirmed his client wants to leave Anfield.
Reports in the Telegraph suggest Liverpool had a £10m bid for Southampton’s Nathaniel Clyne rejected, and will now submit an improved bid close to £12m. Earlier, Glen Johnson announced he’ll be leaving Liverpool in the summer, and Jon Flanagan is out injured till December.
Another report in the Telegraph suggest Aston Villa’s Christian Benteke has a £32.5m release clause in his contract, and Liverpool have to meet the release clause if they are hoping to sign th Belgian international. It is reported Christian Benteke is Liverpool’s top priority in the summer and are expected to submit a bid after Aston Villa’s FA Cup final against Arsenal on Saturday.
According to Liverpool Echo, Liverpool have ended their interest in Fiorentina’s Norberto Neto. Liverpool have extensively scouted the Brazilian shot-stopper and had held talks about a possible move to Anfield. It is expected Neto will now sign for Juventus instead.
Liverpool Echo also suggest Burnley striker Danny Ings will snub Tottenham for Liverpool. It is believed the England U21 international will sign for Liverpool despite a late £12million bid from Spurs. Liverpool were earlier expecting to sign Ings for £4million to £5million, but Spurs massive bid might increase the valuation when a tribunal meet to agree the fee.
