After Terry and Fabregas who showed support for the Special One, another player has come forward and lent support for the Portuguese in the aftermath of his sacking from Stamford Bridge.

In a loan deal, Romelu Lukaku went to Everton in the 2013- 14 season and then the very next season Everton cracked a deal that made the Belgian a permanent feature in the Everton rooster. The Lukaku move was one of the million things that Mourinho was thrashed for as Lukaku has become the frontier man at Goodison Park. Lukaku has scored 13 goals in his 17 appearances in the league and it makes one wonder whether Chelsea’s campaign would have been in tatters as it is not had the Belgian stayed? We wouldn’t ever know as it was the 22-year-old who wanted a move and not the Special one as the Belgian revealed to the Daily express.

Choices have been made by me. By me. Not by them. Everyone says it is Mourinho’s fault, but it is not his fault because I made the decision. I went to his office to ask if I could go” said the forward. Further talking about entire sacking saga and how it has saddened him, Lukaku also highlighted that the criticism directed at the Portuguese is utterly unfair. “He was the first one to say, ‘Good luck.’ When I signed the deal. At 11 o’clock, I got a text message on my old BlackBerry saying ‘Good luck, do your best and I will see you next season.’ He was the first, nobody knows that and that is why for me he gets immense respect” further added the ex-Chelsea man.

Mourinho has faced the brunt for all that has gone wrong at Stamford Bridge and arguably that has been unfair. An out of form team along with hoards of injuries were also major determinants in a terrible first half of this season. For everything that happened at Chelsea, Mourinho still remains a catch for any team and it will be interesting to see where the Portuguese go next. Back to Premier League with Manchester United or a Spanish comeback to Santiago Bernabeu.
