Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has finally admitted even he gets bored seeing his own team running clueless all over the pitch.
United legend Paul Scholes yet again took a dig at LVG and his team after they limp past Sheffield United, hilariously claiming not only the fans and players, even the manager looked so bored.
van Gaal’s reaction came yesterday when he agreed. He revealed: “There are matches I have enjoyed very much.
“There are also matches where I’m very bored or angry because we are not disorganising our opponent’s defence.
“But that is football. It’s not every match that every club is playing fantastically — football that attracts the people.”
Frustrated United supporters made their feelings very clear during Saturday’s FA Cup fixture when they headed for the Old Trafford exits well before full-time.
Due to the early exit they missed Wayne Rooney’s last-gasp penalty which eventually won United a hard fought win against League One Blades.
United fans even cheered ironically when Memphis Depay took his team’s first shot on target after 65 minutes and stats now say that the Red Devils have now gone 10 home matches without a goal in the first half.
Yet Van Gaal insists supporters were just trying to avoid traffic jams, not protesting at the blunt football on display.
He further said: “They are thinking that we could not score and maybe because of the traffic they leave earlier.”
However, Bastian Schweinsteiger sustained a knee injury against the Blades and will certainly miss tonight’s Premier League fixture at Newcastle.
Depay impressed his Dutch manager coming in as a second-half substitute against Sheffield United, which may give him the opportunity to earn a recall to the starting eleven for this away fixture to the North East, but his inclusion may leave Juan Mata at the bench, who was hauled off after the break in the same match following an anonymous performance. Jesse Lingard is also expected to be back in the squad.
However, the arrogant Dutch boss is not at all concerned about any rumours suggesting he might be replaced at Old Trafford this summer. According to one recent report, if United loses to either Newcastle tonight or the old enemy Liverpool at Anfield at the weekend, the Glazer family will take the ultimate decision to wield the axe.
