Mamadou Sakho cleared of all doping charges ‘in full’; might sue the authorities for the saga

It has been a bizarre week at Anfield for Liverpool’s fan favorite French star Mamadou Sakho.

The 26-year old is currently nursing an injury and is back in training but a few weeks away from full fitness. However, Liverpool have now settled into a backline with Dejan Lovren partnered by Joel Matip and Ragnar Klavan in the three games this season.

This has left Sakho with hardly any place in the side in the new season and it has led to a story that he is available on loan this summer.

The 26-year old was one of the first names on the team sheet a couple of months ago when he was banned by the WADA for abuse of a drug that saw him miss out high profile games at the fag end of the season including Liverpool’s 3-1 loss to Sevilla in the Europa League final last season.

However, in due time, he was partially cleared of the charges and was allowed to be back in action but only after also missing out on a place in the EURO16 for his national side on his home turf.

All this lack of game time along with the injury in pre season has pushed Sakho away from the top of the ladder at Liverpool and he is currently ruing the last 4 years of his life that were destroyed by WADA.

However, reports today have given the Kop favorite a glowing light in a dark time as it is now understood that he is cleared of all the charges pertaining to the drug ban that he received earlier this year.

It is revealed that he is cleared of the charges ‘in full’ which meant that there was no truth in his ban in the first place.

It is now upto Liverpool and Sakho to make a move against WADA for trying to destroy a career with hardly anything to show for.

A source close to the Sakho proceedings told Telegraph Sport last month: “The way in which Wada managed this case is unacceptable, absolutely unacceptable.”

So it looks like the French international will sue the responsible association for the last 4 months of his life.

However, it is finally some good news for Liverpool fans who were dejected with reports that Klopp wants to let him go this summer.

Though the verdict may not change much in Klopp’s mind, Sakho may just be able to find a place in the squad at Liverpool once he is match fit.

Do you think Sakho should sue WADA for their irresponsible approach to Sakho’s drug ban earlier this year?
