The future of Manchester United forward Anthony Martial will be subject to heavy speculation over the course of the January window.
Having made a huge impression in his first year at Old Trafford big things were expected of the 21-year-old this term, but poor performances have meant that he has struggled to hold down a regular first-team spot under José Mourinho.
As such, there have been reports that he could leave in January, most likely on a loan deal, and to that end Mohamed Bouhafsi, chief football editor of RMC Sport, has reported on Monday afternoon that Sevilla have entered into talks with Martial’s agent regarding a possible loan move until the end of the season.
The Spanish side are actively looking for a striker to maintain their La Liga title challenge, as well as improving their Champions League squad.
However, it should also be noted that the report goes on to state that Manchester United are not keen on letting the player leave, even on a temporary basis.
Memphis Depay is widely expected to be leaving in this window, most likely to Everton on a loan deal to the end of the season, so it stands to reason that Mourinho is not overly enamoured with the idea of losing a second wide forward option with four competitions still to play for.
Therefore, this is a deal that is probably dead before it can even get off the ground. Unless Martial himself pushed for the move, he is almost certain to be staying where he is for the foreseeable future.
