Manchester United are pushing to sign Aymeric Laporte from Athletic Bilbao this summer after Fichajes have reported the news Man United willing to meet the €42million release clause included in Laporte’s contract.

Aymeric Laporte has a reported release contract in contract worth €42million, as per Fichajes and Manchester United want to act swiftly before Laporte’s other suitors move ahead in race to sign the highly rated defender from Athletic Bilbao.

Fichajes are also reporting that Jorge Mendes could play a key role in bringing the young defender to Old Trafford as Mendes already has 3 clients playing for United including Angel Di Maria, David De gea, Nani and Radamel Falcao.

Manchester United need to tighten the situation at the back where they have constantly been very unsure and wary. Laporte has emerged as one of the hottest defensive prospects in world football and Jorge Mendes has started in mild talks with Man United to help the Spanish defender play for United.

Having booked their spot for next season’s Champions league football, United will have a leverage in attracting their key transfer targets including their other defensive options Mats Hummels and Nicolas Otamendi.

Louis Van Gaal has been known to hand young stars a chance in the first team and Laporte would seem to be one of those long-term defensive prospects which is good enough to earn a call for regular football at the moment.
