Manchester United will host a Leicester City squad which have shocked everyone this season, they are right now running away with the Premier League title and have only lost three league fixture.
On the other hand, the Red Devils will want to carry on their impressive form at home and look to delay the visitors’ potential title celebrations.
Louis van Gaal has four players who are still injured. The players missing are Luke Shaw and Schweinsteiger, both of them aren’t expected to return before the season is finished. Although van Gaal during his press conference revealed Luke Shaw is progressing “very well”.
Meanwhile, Adnan Januzaj is returning from his thigh injury but the Belgian international hasn’t been able to return to full fitness for the chance to be picked against Leicester. Will Keane will still be out for quite some time, the youngster is working hard on recovering from his surgery.
Here is how we think United will line up:
Manchester United possible starting XI: De Gea; Valencia, Smalling, Blind, Rojo; Schneiderlin, Fellaini; Mata, Rooney, Martial; Rashford.
Defence
van Gaal could recall Antonio Valencia to the right-back position with youngster Timothy Fosu-Mensah given a welcome rest but otherwise, we can expect to see the same back four that started against Everton last week, with Chris Smalling and Daley Blind in central defence both have been impressive for United this season.
van Gaal’s defence have been very solid with the pair creating a strong partnership, Smalling has the most clean-sheets in the league as a centre-back. Meanwhile, Blind has been one of their best players this season, the Dutchman has been very consistent too.
Marcos Rojo is most likely to carry on at left-back. However, the Argentine was lucky not to get punished during the Everton match, being out of position on a few occasions.
Midfield
LVG may choose Morgan Schneiderlin to replace Michael Carrick in the starting line-up, the Frenchman has been a regular starter for United this season. With Leicester’s energetic bunch of players, it could be ideal to give Schneiderlin the thumbs up and leave Carrick on the bench for the game.
Fellaini will more or less hold onto his place after playing a key role to guide United into the FA Cup final. The Belgian international looks to work really well in a midfield three, which allows him to put a good shift on both sides of the pitch. Captain Wayne Rooney will most likely start in midfield, after returning from injury he has been playing with great confidence in a deeper role.
Attack
While Rooney continuing in his deeper role behind Marcus Rashford, Juan Mata could make a come-back into the starting line-up leaving Jesse Lingard on the bench. Anthony Martial should keep his place in attack after scoring the winner in the FA Cup semi-final last time out as he has made the most out of it with his pace and movement.
The likes of Ander Herrera, Ashley Young and Memphis Depay are all trying their luck for starts if van Gaal wants to change things up.
Rashford will be leading the United line yet again, the youngster has four league goals in eight appearances. He will be hoping to add to his goal tally with just a few games remaining this season.
