Louis Van Gaal addressed the media ahead of the clash against Swansea on Saturday and the talking point throughout the entire press conference was how United lost to Swansea on the opening day of the season and how Van Gaal plans to change the result this time around.

Van Gaal’s side were playing their first game of the season at Old Trafford when Gary Monk’s Swansea did the perfect smash and grab job late on to beat Manchester United 2-1 at home. Many United fans feared for yet another season of misery after United ended the 2013-14 season at 7th position.

Since then Van Gaal has maintain to stabilize the United ship and took them to 3rd place in the league. Addressing the questions on Swansea’s shock win earlier in the season, Van Gaal stressed on how United were coming from their pre-season tour of US and failed to put up a good show on the pitch.

Van Gaal Said:

“We came from the US, we had won everything so that was a big shock at that moment. After that we lost a lot of points in spite of us being the better team but we couldn’t score enough.

I think that match has a big influence [as it was] the first match we did and now I believe that every player knows the philosophy of me and my staff.”

Reporters further asked Van Gaal on how he sees United’s chances of winning against Swansea on Saturday and how the team is adapting to his philosophies.

In his usual stellar approach, Van Gaal replied:

“Everyone wants to follow that philosophy and you can see the unbelievable team spirit in the team. Swansea are a very good team. I like to see them playing.

They want to play football. They want to make the game a passing game like we do, so I like that kind of football. I hope it shall be a match like that on Saturday.”

Van Gaal further stressed on how United have been playing well in recent games by stressing on the fact that United have been the best side in the league based on last 19-20 games.

Quizzed on how the Dutchman sees his team perform on the pitch, Van Gaal replied that he is never 100% satisfied with how his team is playing and he strives for more from his team. Van Gaal stressed on getting the result ahead of the performance.

Van Gaal said:

“I am never 100% happy. You never can play the perfect match, but I think we can play better than we show now.

The main thing is to win, not to lose and we score fantastic goals that we have practiced in training, but the most important thing is the spirit of the team.

We have shown a lot of times this year this spirit and that is attractive to the fans.”

Manchester United manager had positive news for the fans as he revealed that Robin Van Persie and Phil Jones are fit and ready to be welcomed in United’s team. The only injury concern at the moment is midfielder Michael Carrick.
