Man Utd and City target a 50 goal a season striker who is also a Swansea and Crystal Palace target
Manchester United are believed to be keeping tabs on a 50 goal a season striker.
After the departure of Robin van Persie, Red Devils have only three strikers in their squad with Wayne Rooney, Javier Hernandez and young James Wilson.
Hernandez is a “fox in the box” but manager Louis van Gaal puts him down in pecking order and Wilson is too young to take such pressure. So, Rooney, who used to play in deeper positions in the last few years, will play as the center forward after so many years.
Manchester United have been linked with high profile strikers like Robert Lewandowski, Thomas Muller, KArim Benzema, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Edinson Cavani and Harry Kane in the last few weeks but has faced only disappointments for the stars.
Barnet striker Matt Stevens is on the radar of Premier League clubs across the Great Britain, after an impressive season with Barnet’s academy where he scored over 50 goals.
Formerly on the books of Reading where he scored 32 goals for their u16s, the 17 year old has been targeted by both Swansea and Crystal Palace with the Garry Monk’s Welsh side seeing a bid of £250,000 rejected earlier this summer.
The striker, who formerly played as a midfielder, has made just one senior appearance for the Bees and in the process became their youngest ever senior player when he came on as a substitute against Alfreton last September.
United’s local rival Manchester City are also monitoring the striker according to ESPN.
Manchester United and Manchester City have been alerted to Stevens’ potential and are monitoring his situation.
The two Premier League giants are looking to strengthen their youth set-ups with promising talents and they see Stevens as a prospect for the future.
City have already signed one of the best English youngsters Patrick Roberts and wants to sign Stevens to build their future.
