Manuel Pellegrini’s men produced one of the best performance of the Premier League so far this season last night at the Etihad when they took on a Newcastle side that was not low on confidence. They started the game poorly and conceded within 20 minutes but came back strongly and scored 6 past Krul and took all three points from the game.
Here are the player ratings for this game
Manchester City:
Joe Hart (3.5): Hart started the game well denying Mitrovic after which City started dominating the game. A good performance from the England shot-stopper.
Pablo Zabaleta (3): Played really well in the second half as he took every chance to go forward. But was lethargic to start with.
Nicolas Otamendi (2.5): Was found wanting whenever he was troubled in the first half. Had little to do when City were enjoying a goal fest.
Eliaquim Mangala (2.5): Shaky at the back when Newcastle were on the attack. Slowly made his presence felt as City dominated the game.
Aleksandar Kolarov (3.5): Was extra-ordinary down the flank as he put in cross after cross to trouble the Newcastle defense.
Fernandinho (3): Did well to hold back and break play when needed. Little to do in the second half.
Fernando (2.5): Should have done a lot better to provide cover for the back four when Newcastle were on the attack.
David Silva (4): The little Spaniard had a great day as he found space too often and never disappointed his players with the final ball.
Raheem Sterling (2.5): Picked up a niggle in the first half and was subbed. Failed to impress in the short time he played.
Kevin De Bruyne (4): Another assured performance from the summer signing as he hardly put a foot wrong. Picked up his 4th goal of the season.
Sergio Aguero (5): The Argentine revived City with 4 goals in 13 minutes. He was smart, slick and skill-full and had one of the best days in a Manchester City shirt. Obviously the man of the match on the day.

Newcastle United:

Daryl Janmaat (2.5): Made some important blocks in the first half but was not at his best when City were at their marauding best.
Fabricio Coloccini (2.5): Made clearance after clearance when City were on the attack but just did not do enough to stop them from scoring.

Georginio Wijnaldum (2.5): Tried hard to get Newcastle on the front foot but failed to assert his dominance over the game.
Aleksandar Mitrovic (3): Looked dangerous at times when the away team were on the attack. Tried his best to keep Newcastle away from harm’s reach.
Ayoze Perez (3): Started the game swiftly and showed good feet in the first half. A very ordinary second half as he cut a lone figure up front.
