Pep Guardiola seems to be a bit calm at the moment and seems to not be rushing into any transfer decisions as he is still trying to get a hand of the potential in his current squad.
The club has been linked with some big money moves for European stars over the transfer window but the manager has only made four signings in Aaton Mooy, Nolito, Ilkay Gundogan and Alexander Zinchenko, But as the days have passed by, out came the rumors for Everton’s John Stones which has now cooled down.
However, the papers today have linked the Etihad outfit with two big stars from Germany and Italy.
Leonardo Bonucci, who has been an integral part of the Juventus squad over the years is reportedly close to a move to Manchester City this summer.
Barring Vincent Kompany, Guardiola is not happy with his options at the center back position and is in the market for a top quality centre-back. Bonucci will fit into his style of play well and will be a player who will improve the squad at the Etihad.
However, he is expected to cost City around £50million and will be the costliest defender if he makes the move. It is also reported that his wages may be at an astounding 8m€ per year which is an offer that is hard to refuse.
There is no official word on any bid made by City and though it was reported that the player has accepted personal terms, this move does not seem to be happening in the coming days.
But one German who may well be on his way to the Etihad this summer is Schalke starlet Leroy Sane.
Guardiola is understood to a be a long-term admirer of the 20-year old and it was reported that the deal is all but done.
The £42m move will be the second-highest amount paid for a German player, with Mesut Ozil’s £42.5m move to Arsenal in 2013 the only higher fee. He is expected to sign a four-year contract worth £100,000 a week.
He has shown great potential recently and is a player who can excel under the Spaniard. At 20-years of age, he has plenty of opportunities to prove himself and may well be the man that helps Guardiola to success in his first season in England.
