Manchester City and Juventus are reportedly trying to cash in on Alexis Sanchez’s contract situation with Arsenal. The Chile international, whose current contract with the Gunners expires in 2018, has been in talks with the club over a new deal since August but nothing concrete has been materialized even after three months.
The Daily Mirror has reported that the contract deadlock has opened the door for City and Juventus, who could battle it out for the £50m-rated Chilean’s signature if the North London club fails to tie down their star. Reports are suggesting that the Chilean, who currently earns£130,000-a-week, is demanding an improved wage from the club but the club bosses are still pondering over it.
The former Barcelona star has made a fine start to the season and has been one of the biggest reasons for Arsenal’s impressive performance this season. He has been in phenomenal form up front and has become Arsene Wenger’s first choice as a striker ahead of Oliver Giroud after scoring 6 goals and providing 3 assists.
The 26-year-old, who joined the Gunners ahead of the 2014-15 campaign, has become an integral part of Arsene Wenger’s team and losing him will be a huge blow. The Gunners will be desperate to tie him down as quickly as possible. Sanchez has played under city boss Pep Guardiola during his stint with Barcelona and it will be another reason for Arsenal to hand Sanchez a deal quickly.
