According to Catalan newspaper Sport, Barcelona are keen to hold on to their star goalkeeper Marc-André Ter Stegen as Manchester City are interested in signing the talented German keeper.
The 24-year old is keen to stay with the European giants but needs assurances over his future at the club. But manager Luis Enrique is not keen to give assurance to Ter Stegen as Claudio Bravo has cemented his place as No.1 at the Catalan club.
Ter Stegen is one of the highly rated goalkeepers in entire Europe as he sealed a £9.7m deal from Borussia Monchengladbach back in 2014 to Barcelona. He was restricted to only seven La Liga appearances last season.
The player’s agent Gerd vom Bruch met with Barca officials on Tuesday and is understood to have told the club he will seek a move if he is not the first choice in La Liga this season.
However with his future uncertain at Barcelona, as he might not get proper playing time, Ter Stegen is unwilling to stay at the club with no assurances. Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola who is adding excellent additions to his roster is reportedly keen on the German.
City’s goalkeeper Joe Hart’s future as No.1 at the club remains unclear due to his dip in form over the last season. Guardiola looks at Ter Stegen as the potential alternative to Joe Hart going into the new season.
However since Claudio Bravo is a 33-year old, Barcelona want the young Ter Stegen to stay with the club as they stamp a £67million tag on the German to fend off Manchester City’s interest.
