Manchester City’s Bernardo Silva has emerged as next target for Barcelona who have so far enjoyed a stellar summer, welcoming five new signings. The Portuguese playmaker is highly rated by Barca manager Xavi and wants him on his roster to bolster the team’s attacking potent. With Silva being constantly linked to the Catalans, his City teammate Kevin de Bruyne has commented on the same.
Barcelona has so far signed Robert Lewandowski, Raphinha, Jules Kounde, Andreas Christensen and Frank Kessie. However, they were unable to register all of their signings due to the club’s dire economic situation which kept them from landing more. Now that four of the five new faces have been registered after they triggered a fourth economic lever, Barca are looking to complete more signings.

De Bruyne ‘not worried’ by Bernardo Silva’s future at Man City
Bernardo Silva has been admired by both Manchester City as well as potential suitors Barcelona. However, City manager Pep Guardiola has admitted that he doesn’t know yet whether Silva will remain with them post this summer window. The 28-year-old has also reportedly set his sights over a move to the Catalan city with wanting to experience a new challenge.
Moreover, Guardiola too has promised Barnardo Silva that he will allow him to join his former club Barcelona only if a satisfying bid arrives. City want in the excess on a whopping £80 million for their 2017 recruit, which Barcelona are unwilling to pay. The English champions had signed Silva from AS Monaco in 2017 for a fee of £45 million.
Amidst the links and talks, Silva’s long time teammate Kevin de Bruyne has made his feeling clear over the Portugal international’s future at City. Talking in his post-match interview after City’s win over Bournemouth, De Bruyne said: “He knows, I think he’s very loved. The way that I see it, I think that he will be here, so there’s nothing that I’m worried about. Whatever happens he is great for us and I expect him to be here with us this year.”

While the Belgian has expressed that he wants his teammate to put stay at the club, the picture could be a different one on the coming days. Barcelona have received a boost after they executed their fourth economic lever which helped register new signings, and make available more funds to facilitate the incomings of more new players.
Moreover, they are trying to sell their midfielder Frenkie de Jong to either of Chelsea or Manchester United to further clear up space for Bernardo Silva. Guardiola too has grown unsure about his attacker’s future at the club stating: “I said last time, I want Bernardo [Silva] here – 100%. Because I love him. The reason I am manager is because I can train players like Bernardo.
“But as I have said before, I don’t know what will happen, but he knows how much we like him and want him, and how much we love him. But at the same time, I don’t know what is going to happen,” reiterated the Spaniard. Barcelona and City are expected to hold a fresh round of talks for Silva, as soon as the Catalans seal the signing of Chelsea left-back Marcos Alonso.
