Manchester United and Chelsea To Lock Horn For Alexis Sanchez 1

Arsene Wenger’s Arsenal are enduring one of their worst periods in the top flight for a long time as they are now in with a shot at a trophy in just one competition, the FA Cup.

They crashed out of the Champions League 10-2 on aggregate and have failed to find any consistency since the turn of the year in the domestic league, leaving them out of the top-4 with just 11 games to play.

The squad has been hit by a few injuries recently but there are very few excuses for the Arsenal players for their current form. And one player whose conduct on and off the pitch is now under severe scrutiny is Chilean winger Alexis Sanchez.

Still standing as Arsenal’s top scorer in the league with 17 goals this season, Sanchez has been their best player this season and not too long ago, Wenger was negotiating with him for a new long-term deal.

He has less than 18 months left on his current contract but Arsenal have not been able to get him to sign a new deal. This was where it all came down the hill for Sanchez at the Emirates.

He was reportedly involved in a bust-up with Arsene Wenger in training before the Liverpool game and as a result, he was dropped from the trip to Anfield.

The 28-year old was furious with his manager after being subbed off in two previous games and his fury in the 5-1 loss at the Allianz Arena was a clear indication of how he is feeling at the club.

And in what looked likely to be the final nail in the coffin, the former Barcelona man was seen smiling and having fun in the bench in Arsenal’s loss at home to Bayern earlier this week.

Wenger is now convinced that he cannot keep him at the club for a longer time and is ready to sell this summer with the likes of Sevilla, PSG and Juventus all interested.

But Sanchez and his form in the domestic league in England will surely see some of the biggest clubs in the country try and lure him away and according to reports from the Express, he is wanted by two of the biggest clubs in England.

Antonio Conte’s top of the table Chelsea have been keeping tabs on him for a while now and Jose Mourinho’s Manchester United have now joined them in the race for his signature.

The same report suggests that Arsenal are not ready to sell to direct rivals, making PSG the best option for Alexis Sanchez. But Jose Mourinho is determined that he is the star for the future and is now plotting to make a stunning bid for the Chilean in the summer.
