Manchester United are considering to terminate the contract of Spanish goalkeeper Victor Valdes, but they will only let him go if he joins a club outside England, according to ESPN.
33-year-old Victor Valdes joined Manchester United on an 18-month deal in January after leaving Barcelona, but David De Gea, Sergio Romero and Sam Johnstone are all currently ahead of him in Louis van Gaal’s plans.
Chelsea and Liverpool were monitoring the situation of the former Barcelona goalkeeper and that is why Manchester United are considering whether to let him go.
While both the player and the club want a solution to the current situation and United are open to cancelling his contract, they would stipulate that he can only move to a team outside the Premier League.
Louis van Gaal said in the summer that Valdes had no future at Old Trafford because he refused to appear for the club’s reserve side last season, and he has since been frozen out of the first-team.
Valdes rejected a move to Turkish giants Besiktas this summer.
Due to the fact he was not a free agent when the transfer window closed on Sept. 1, Valdes would not be permitted to join another Premier League club until January regardless of whether his contract is terminated.
The manager openly said that the former Barcelona keeper Victor Valdes had shown a lack of professionalism.
Valdes was left out of the Red Devils’ pre-season squad to America.
Valdes made matters worse by replying via Instagram and it’s been downhill ever since. Talk of a return to Spain immediately surfaced, with Valencia lining up a move for the keeper.
Valdes won La Liga six times for Barcelona and he has many other honours in his resume.
He won UEFA Champions League three times and was awarded Gold Medal of the Royal Order of Sporting Merit in 2011.
He was awarded La Liga goalkeeper of the year twice.
