Manchester United are reportedly eyeing Bayern Munich left-back David Alaba as there have speculations over Luke Shaw’s future at the Old Trafford in recent weeks.
The Daily Mirror has reported that Jose Mourinho is eyeing the Bayern Munich ace along with his compatriot Julian Baumgartlinger. The report claimed that the Portuguese had the duo watched twice during the international break, in fixtures against the Republic of Ireland and Slovakia as he looks desperate to bolster his defence and midfield.
The Australia international’s current contract with the German giants expires in 2021 but the report claimed that it won’t stop the United boss to go for the defender. Mourinho is also willing to go neck to neck with his former club Real Madrid as the Spanish giants have been linked with Alaba for a long time.
Well, the United manager would be willing to land a left-back soon after his public falling out with Shaw. The former Southampton defender has been the subject of public criticism from Mourinho on more than one occasion this season and reports are claiming that the player is willing to leave the club soon.
On the other hand, Mourinho is also eyeing a suitable replacement in defensive midfield. Bastian Schweinsteiger and Morgan Schneiderlin have fallen out of favour at the club and are likely to leave the club sooner than later. Bayer Leverkusen ace Julian Baumgartlinger, who joined the Bundesliga outfit this season, has emerged as a target for the defensive midfield role.
