A game which could have easily ended in a win by a margin of 3-4 goals for the Red Devils concluded on an unsatisfactory result as the home team drew against the relegation hit Chelsea. Manchester United showed beautiful attacking football in the first half and fully dominated Chelsea. However, United failed to put up a great game play in the second half and played lousy.
The momentum was down and the squad lacked their energy from the first half. Considering how poorly Chelsea has been doing this season, Manchester United could have easily bagged a win and 3 important points from the game. Rooney had a decent game and both the goal keepers were phenomenal as they were tested every now and then.
David de Gea said, De Gea: “Both teams had chances but I think we played better then them. We kept the ball, we tried to score goals.” Manchester United had several shots on target today but were only unlucky to not convert a few, in the first half. Speaking in the post match presentation, LvG said, “I think it was a very good performance but you have to score the goal and we didn’t.” “In this football world you never know, but I have full confidence in the board and more importantly from my players.”
“When players give a performance with this pressure it is not any reason for me to resign. Maybe media want that but I won’t do that.” The players are fighting for me. It was a good performance but we didn’t have the luck we needed.”
Wayne Rooney also adds, ‘’We put up a great fight, dominated the game and should have won. But that’s football and it’s the way it’s going for us.” The fans were excellent & you can see what that means to the players. It’s a tough time but I’m sure the wins will come.”
Manchester United is 6th on the league standings.
