Manchester United fans thanked the most unlikely hero for their triumph in the Carabao Cup final over Newcastle United. However, the Red Devils’ supporters sang praises of Juventus midfielder Adrien Rabiot’s mother in the aftermath of their cup win. The Frenchman was close to arrive at Old Trafford in summer, only for his mother, Veronique, who also represents her son as his agent, holding out for a lucrative salary demand which evidently collapsed the move. As a result, United quickly moved for Casemiro, who has worked wonders since arriving for a package of £70m from Real Madrid.

Manchester United fans aim dig at Rabiot’s mother for collapsing move to club

Manchester United’s Rabiot alternative Casemiro has been crucial to the club’s turnaround this season and has even scored five goals. The former Real Madrid star gave United the lead against Newcastle at Wembley with a header, which spurred debate among Red Devils supporters about how significant he is. And several people pointed out that if United had successfully signed Rabiot, Casemiro might not even be at the club.

Rabiot’s mother and agent Veronique sought an excessively expensive pay, which prevented United from completing a deal to sign the Frenchman. Instead, Casemiro was acquired, and after scoring in the Carabao Cup final, fans playfully thanked Veronique. The fans’ reaction was:
