Manchester United have grown further hopeful of signing Borussia Dortmund’s captain Mats Hummels in the next transfer window. This renewed hope has emerged after Dortmund’s Champions League exit at the hands of Juventus.

It is being understood from the German media that Hummels has grown frustrated of how Dortmund have lost their pedigree while playing at home. Juventus came and battered the German side 3-0 at Signal Iduna Park.

Dortmund’s exit means that there will be no Champions League football for Hummels next season and this has opened the door for United to convince the German to make his move to Old Trafford. Van Gaal has eyed Hummels as the leader of United’s defence for upcoming seasons.

Manchester United have never kept any secrets about their pursuit of Hummels and with the recent meltdown between the club and the German side a massive £30 million bid is imminent by the red devils as Van Gaal looks to build his squad for greater challenge next season.

Manchester United are the only real contender to sign the £30 million Hummels, who will be keen to listen to the offers after Dortmund have crashed out of the Champions League and are languishing the second half of the Bundesliga League table.
