Evra was out of contract in the summer and was likely to join Nemanja Vidic at Inter Milan, but he has now signed a new contract. Evra joined United in 2006, and has made 379 appearances. Evra arrived from Monaco for a fee of £5.5m in 2006, has won the Premier League 5 times and the Champions League once at United. Manchester United’s official twitter account confirmed the news.

United have earlier made a £27m bid for Southampton‘s Luke Shaw, but the player has decided to hold all transfer talks as he wants to concentrate on the World Cup.

“It is something that is not even on my mind. Transfer talk is completely gone – I am here to focus on England and England only.

“There’s no pressure. I don’t really feel pressure. I just focus on my own game. I have come here to help the England team and I will do everything I can,” Shaw revealed.

Earlier today, Rio Ferdinand, Sam Byrne and Federico Macheda have been released by Manchester United.
