Manchester United have landed Brighton’s scout Mark Anderson who is considered one of the best scouts in the country as he is credited for bringing Raheem Sterling to Liverpool earlier.
The exciting winger has joined the Reds in 2010 for an initial £600,000 from QPR and went on to become one of the best young wingers in the country during his time at Anfield.
Liverpool then managed to sell him for a whopping £49 million deal to Manchester City in July 2015. Mark Anderson who has been working for Brighton over the past 18 years, as his relation with the club dates back to 1999, is assigned with the task to scout young talent for Manchester United in the south of England.
‘The Manchester United offer doesn’t come along every day,’ Anderson told The Daily Mail.
‘I feel that it is the next part of my development and I feel that I can make a big impact in the London area.
‘It goes back sometimes when the likes of David Beckham came out of London for United, so I want to be able to give some of the young talents another option when the time is right.’
The Red Devils are keen to reinvest in exciting youngsters as they have been forced to make record transfers off late since the retirement of Sir Alex Ferguson. Manchester United were known to be one of the best youth academies since the 2000s but have lost the plot as they have heavily relied on buying stars from outside.
Manchester United have produced the likes of Paul Scholes, Ryan Giggs and David Beckham to name a few in the Premier League era. The Red Devils have finally got their campaign back on track as they have now won eight games in a row across all competitions and are keen to get back into the title race.
