Not Tevez, Ibrahimovic Could Have Become World’s Best Paid Footballer!!

Manchester United striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic could have earned incredible amount in salary if he had chosen to move to Chinese Super League last summer.

However, the 35-year old had instead chose to join up with his favorite manager Jose Mourinho at Old Trafford last summer on a free transfer from Paris Saint-Germain.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic had earlier admitted that he had snubbed Chinese League before his move to Manchester United and Daily Telegraph claims that he could have had a massive £60million a year – tax-free contract if he had decided to move Far East.

This could have been the world record wage for any footballer by far as the current best paid footballer Carlos Tevez earns only £32 million a year with Shanghai Shenhua. He is also by far the most paid footballer compared to the wages offered by European clubs as his current contract sees him earn a staggering £615k-a-week in China.

The reason behind Chinese officials getting ready to pay such hefty amount was the iconic appeal of Zlatan across the world. The officials believed that he could be the face of the league and can contribute to its popularity immensely.

However, Zlatan had other ideas and instead moved to Old Trafford to prove his critics wrong who have claimed that he cannot be as good as he has been all his career.  The naysayers pointed out that Premier League is the toughest league in the world for Zlatan’s age.

The 35-year old has defied all the odds against him as he has already managed to score an impressive 24 goals for Manchester United this season and had played a huge role in their progress so far this season.

He currently earns an impressive £220,000-a-week at Manchester United and his one year contract will expire in the summer and there has been no official announcement on the option to extend his contract for another year despite Mourinho claiming that the Swede will stay at the club for at least another season.
