Manchester United predicted lineup to face Stoke City this weekend

After a solo goal from Zlatan Ibrahimovic gave Jose Mourinho his first points in Europe at Old Trafford, Manchester United are now getting ready to face Mark Hughes’ Stoke City side that have made a disastrous start to the season with just two points from the first 6 games. Mourinho will know that the Potters have a decent squad who can challenge for the three points on the night and will set out his best XI for this game this weekend. Here is the predicted lineup for the Red Devils to face Stoke City on Sunday.

Team News:

The manager will welcome back the likes of Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Luke Shaw for this tie and might get to start the game on the night. French international Anthony Martial is also back fit after a concussion he picked up recently and is expected take a place in the starting XI. Phil Jones remains the only long-term injury problem for Mourinho. Here is the strongest lineup Manchester United can field on the night:

Goal Keeper:

David de Gea:

The Spaniard was rested in the game against Zorya on Thursday and will be expected to take his place between the sticks on Sunday.

Defense:

Antonio Valencia:

Having cemented a place in the side on the right side of the defense, Valencia will be up against Arnautovic this week and will have to be at his best.

Chris Smalling:

One of the most consistent players for United in the previous season, Smalling has made a decent start to the campaign and will keep his place in the starting XI.

Eric Bailly:

Growing in confidence with every game, Bailly has been decent in recent games and will partner Smalling in defense on the night.

Daley Blind:

Having put in a superb shift against Leicester City last weekend, Blind will take his place on the side and will make Shaw wait on the sidelines for a little longer.

Midfield:

Paul Pogba:

Slowly getting used to the English conditions, Pogba, had his best game for the side against Leicester last weekend and will hope to put in a similar performance against Stoke.

Ander Herrera:

Impressive in the few outings that he got, Herrera is expected to partner Pogba in the midfield and will hope to have a good game on the night.

Henrikh Mkhitaryan:

Hull City v Manchester United - Premier League

Just coming back from injury, Mkhitaryan, will be itching to go and prove himself having failed to make an impact on the squad so far. He will be on the right side of the attack for the Red Devils on the night.

Juan Mata:

A goal and an assist in the previous league game will give Mata another chance in the play maker’s role in this game against Stoke City.

Anthony Martial:

Came in for the last 15 minutes in the Europa League game to regain some fitness and is expected to start this game at Old Trafford this weekend.

Attack:

Zlatan Ibrahimovic:

Having scored a winner in the Europa League, Zlatan will be high on confidence and will hope to find the back of the net yet again, this time against Stoke City this weekend.
