Jose Mourinho’s Manchester United are back in action on Thursday as they welcome Ukrainian outfit Zorya Luhansk for the 2nd match of the group stage of the Europa League this season. The Red Devils failed to take even a single point from their trip to Netherlands in the first group game and will need to take all three points from this game to stay alive in the group. Mourinho has in the past revealed that he lays more importance on the Premier League than the Europa league but he will have to set up a strong team for the game to stay on the winnings side. Here is the predicted lineup for the side for this game against Zorya:
Jose Mourinho revealed that star striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic will not be available for this game at home and Wayne Rooney is expected to start in attack. He will also miss the services of winger Henrikh Mkhitaryan and defender Luke Shaw, both of who are out for more than week now. However, Anthony Martial, who picked up a concussion recently, might be up for a start in this game. Here is Manchester United’s strongest XI for this Europa League game:
David de Gea:
Though Sergio Romero is a decent keeper, De Gea has kept his place in the side even for European games and will start on Thursday.
Though not able to impress in his few outings recently, Mensah is a top class player who will give Mourinho an option on the flank for this game.
Having made a decent start to his United career, the summer buy is now first choice at the club and will start this game on Thursday.
The frailties the team has shown in defence recently will see Mourinho use a tried and tested partnership at the back and will use Smalling alongside Bailly for this game.
Though not extremely impressive, Rojo was decent in his previous outings in the cup and will hope to prove himself in this game against Zorya.
The former Southampton man has not been able to impress the manager this season but will get a great chance to do so in this game on Thursday.
Having missed out on the starting XI for a couple of games now, Fellaini will be back for this game in the midfield for Manchester United.
Though impressing at times under Mourinho earlier this season, Lingard has not been able to cement a place in the starting XI but will start this Europa League fixture.
The Spaniard was superb in the recent victory over Leicester City and will take up a similar position on the night against Zorya.
The French international is just back from a concussion and will hope to regain his form after a small break in his season.
The club captain was thrown to the bench for the Leicester City game but will be back in action this weekend, and will lead the line for his side.
