Chelsea are very close to agreeing a surprise swap deal with Boussia Dortmund for Ilkay Gundogan, according to reports.

The Times have reported a story, which suggests that a deal is already agreed for the summer with Ramires joining the Bundesliga side in exchange for Gundogan.

This particular news does not come as a good one for Manchester United, who were hoping to sign Gundogan themselves in the summer.

Despite signing Schweinsteiger and Schneiderlin, United’s midfield is no where they would have liked and thus Gundogan was seen as the ideal signing for Louis Van Gaal, however, Chelsea have edged pass their rivals in that particular race.

According to The Times, Gundogan is open to the idea of joining Chelsea as he is certain to find a starting XI place in the team. Times have also reported that not only Ramires but John Obi Mikel will also quit Stamford Bridge, allowing Gundogan to enjoy first team action.

According to Bild, the player is open for any kind of move which sees him play week-in-week-out, which is not the case at Dortmund under Thomas Tuchel.

Same is the case with Ramires, who is just frustrated at not playing enough football and is losing out on International opportunities. The Brazilian is keen to stay in Europe and sees Dortmund as a viable option to revive his career.
