Manchester United star given green light to play against Manchester City 1

Just before the important clash against City rivals Manchester City, Manchester United have received a huge injury boost as their striker Henrikh Mkhitaryan has been declared fit for the derby.

Mkhitaryan, who signed for the Red Devils this year from Borussia Dortmund, was injured when he collided with a Czech Republic defender during a friendly match for Armenia last week. The striker was then taken off the field as a precautionary measure.

The Armenia international then returned to England early in an attempt to regain fitness quickly. However, his participation in the derby was looking bleak after the Armenia FA revealed that the striker will take around 10 days to recover.

But now the United fans can heave a sigh of relief as the striker has been given the green light to play.

Mkhitaryan fit for Manchester derby

Meanwhile, there are some more good news for the United fans as  Jose Mourinho has confirmed that the team has “no injuries” ahead of the derby and are set to go in with a full strength squad. There were some doubts regarding the participation of Luke Shaw and Marouane Fellaini in the derby but both the players have been given the green light to play in the match.

Talking to MUTV, Mourinho said: “He (Mkhitaryan) is available.

“I’m not saying he’s ready to play 90 minutes but he’s ready to try to help us.”
” There are no injuries and everybody has returned safely and on time for at least one training session. Everybody is ready and wants to play, of course.”
