Anthony Martial has been named the PFA fans player of the month for August/September in the premier league.
Manchester United’s Anthony Martial has enjoyed yet another piece of good news. The young Frenchman probably can’t believe the few month’s he’s had the end of the last season.
Frenchman Martial, who joined United on Deadline Day from Monaco for £36m – a record fee for a teenager – scored three goals in his first two Premier League games, as well as putting in a man-of-the-match performance in the 3-0 win over Sunderland.
Manchester United’s Anthony Martial has enjoyed yet another piece of good news. The young Frenchman probably can’t believe the few months he’s had since the end of last season.
A holiday was followed by the start of France’s Ligue 1 season and a call-up to the France national squad from manager Didier Deschamps. Martial was a player who AS Monaco deemed wasn’t for sale, despite interest from some of the world’s biggest clubs.
The 19-year-old, who became the most expensive teenager in world football after signing for United from Monaco in a £36million deal this summer, scored three goals in his first two Premier League appearances, and put in a man of the match display in the 3-0 victory over Sunderland.
Leicester City forward Riyad Mahrez and West Ham winger Dimitri Payet were also short-listed for the award but missed out to the Red Devils youngster.
Monaco’s mind was changed by Manchester United’s money, but the French principality club were only convinced to sell Martial when he pushed for the move himself.
After a magic September for himself, Martial has ended up in the ESM (European Sports Media) team of the month. He’s the only Premier League player to be in there, so it would appear quite some honour.
The 19-year-old Frenchman have 1 assist and 3 goals in 4 appearances in 2015-2016 Premier League season and 1 goal in the League cup.
Anthony Martial’s performances led Manchester Unite back to the top of the Premier League for the first time in over two years at the end of September.
United are currently third in the table with 16 points from their opening eight fixtures, just two behind the pace of league leaders and local rivals Manchester City.
After the international break, Louis van Gaal’s men travel to Merseyside to take on seventh-placed Everton at Goodison Park.
Every month, throughout the English football season, fans will have opportunity to vote on Skysports.com for who they think has been the best player in each of the Barclays Premier League, Sky Bet Championship, Sky Bet League One and Sky Bet League Two, after Sky Sports teamed up with the PFA to be the digital platform for the Awards.
