Manchester United Star All Set To Leave For China 1

Manchester United skipper Wayne Rooney is reportedly ready to quit Old Trafford in order to seal a lucrative deal with a Chinese Super League outfit after the ongoing season.

The England international recently became United’s all-time leading goal scorer after netting the equaliser against Stoke City in the Premier League but his spot in the starting eleven is far from cemented.

The 31-year-old was included in the starting eleven for the first five Premier League games of the season but a string of dismal performances saw him getting dropped to the bench for the 4-1 win over Leicester in September. He has started only five more games since then and it is quite clear that he does not feature prominently in Jose Mourinho’s plans.

Wayne Rooney is open to a move to the Chinese Super League for a bumper pay-day

And with chances of getting regular first-team action looking bleak, The Sun has reported that the striker is ready to move to China. As per the report, the mega-rich Chinese clubs are willing to pay the United star a whooping £1 million a week to agree to the deal.

The news outlet claimed that the striker has a lack of offers from MLS sides, which has persuaded him to eye a move to the far east.

On the other hand, United are desperately trying to sign Atletico Madrid star Antoine Griezmann and it is quite likely that they would accept a lucrative bid for the ageing striker, who has only 18 months left on his current £250,000-a-week deal.

United boss Jose Mourinho has already said he would not interfere in Rooney’s decision on his future which is a clear indication that the player does not have a strong role under the Portuguese tactician.

He had said:

“You will have to ask him. I think the future belongs to him and what he wants in his career. The way he wants to end it, the way he wants to enjoy the last part of his, that belongs to him.

“I don’t like to be critical of players who decide to go to China. It’s their life, it’s their organisation of their life, their organisation of their career.

“The money is huge, the experience can also be interesting. I know some of my colleagues think they are more important than they are and think they can interfere in the lives of other people, but I’m not that sort of guy.

“Everybody is responsible for their own life, I’m not critical with anyone. To be honest, in Wayne’s case, I have no idea, because he has never mentioned it to me.”
