Manchester United to launch January bid for Arsenal and Liverpool target
Manchester United are reportedly set to place a January bid for Paris Saint-Germain attacker Lucas Moura who is also a major target for Arsenal and Liverpool.
Lucas, rated at around £21.5million, still not been able to entirely settle at PSG and has come under severe criticism for his failure to properly integrate with the Ligue 1 champions. However, he did briefly win his place back in the Brazilian team, as he was called up for the qualifiers in October, but he didn’t even play any minutes and was eventually dropped again for the November qualifiers.
Lucas Moura has also been linked with a potential move to Old Trafford in 2012 but PSG signed him for around £44m from Sao Paolo the next year.
It is now understood that PSG have become frustrated handling Lucas Moura’s inconsistency and will welcome any offers at the end of this season. Arsenal and Manchester United are the two clubs mostly interested to sign the Brazilian. Inter Milan are also in the race for Moura, whose current contract at PSG ends in the 2019 summer.
Arsenal are also ready to pay £30million for the attacker as they are desperate to see through the injury crisis. With Francis Coquelin is still recovering from knee injury, Wenger’s options in the midfield are currently limited. He paired Mathieu Flamini and Aaron Ramsey together against Sunderland, with Ramsey returning from a hamstring injury. But Wenger needs more options because injury concern looms large throughout the campaign.
Louis van Gaal has come under severe criticism from large portions of the United fans, with many of them increasingly disgruntled at the 64-year-old tactician’s blunt, boring style of football.
His men were held to a frustrating 0-0 draw by West Ham on Saturday which signalled a fifth goalless draw in their last nine matches. United attempted as many as 23 shots at goal but managed to hit the target just once.
United also tried to lure Sadio Mane from Southampton but the Saints are not in a mood to do business with United and the youngster could be offered a choice to move to Bundesliga following Bayern Munich’s recent interest in bidding a lucrative transfer offer in January.
