Manchester United have now turned their attention to Watford’s Ismaila Sarr, according to 90min, as they look to complete some quick deals before the transfer window shuts in about 20 days. Erik ten Hag too has reportedly given the green-light to sign the wide player since he needs one. However, this isn’t be the first time United have shown their interest in signing the Senegal international.
Sarr has been linked with a move to Old Trafford earlier as well and is now being touted as United’s solution to cover for star man Cristiano Ronaldo, who is determined to leave, and the injured Anthony Martial. Moreover, after scoring a stunning goal from the half-way line against West Brom, Sarr-to-United links have picked up pace as Ten Hag considers him a brilliant talent.
United to rectify their Arnautovic mistake with Ismaila Sarr
Man United opened their Premier League campaign with a disastrous loss against Brighton at Old Trafford. What followed next for the already frustrated fans was the Red Devils bidding for Bologna’s 33-year-old striker out of the blue. United’s panic-buy almost got them into landing the man who was plying his trade in the Chinese League for three years before joining Bologna last season.
However, Bologna have rejected their bid, much to the relief of the fans. United now want Ismaila Sarr, who could be an economic option as well. The 24-year-old also boasts experience of Premier League football with Watford in the 2019/20 and 2021/22 season, helping them to a promotion in between those years.
Sarr has featured 94 times so far for Watford, scoring an impressive 25 goals and further collecting 19 assists. The winger has 50 Premier League games under his belt, contributing 18 goal involvements [10 goal, 8 assists] in those.
Though Watford faced relegation last season, Sarr has always been the bright spot whenever gracing the Premier League. His electric displays down the right flank gave headache to many of the top teams, including Liverpool who were victims of his brilliant individual qualities back in 2019/20 season when they lost 3-0 to Watford. Sarr scored 2 of those and set-up the other for Troy Deeney.
The dazzling show had even earned him transfer interest from the Reds who were left awestruck watching him play against them. While a move never happened, United could be a chance for Ismaila Sarr to return to the English top flight. Meanwhile, the Red Devils are focused on getting Adrien Rabiot’s deal over the line as negotiations are in the final stages per multiple reports.
