The Jester from Leicester has won against China’s No.1 Ding Junhui 18-14, in a nerve-racking final at the Sheffield’s Crucible Theatre.
The first world title came to Selby two years ago, when he won against Ronnie O’Sullivan in a tense final, on the other side Leicester City won the Championship and got promoted to the first flight of the English football.
But Selby was taking on the Rocket back then and had to miss the open-top bus parade through the city, reports The Sun.
Selby said: “I don’t know, what is more of a shock me winning this again or Leicester actually doing it
“It feels amazing to be a multiple world champion.
“I don’t know how I did it, I had my B game most of the time but thankfully it was enough.”
The 32-year-old badly wanted to make it a double dose of silverware this season, for his home town Leicester City, and eventually, they did it!
Eden Hazard is the man, who decided the title last year with his goal and this time too, but for Leicester City instead of Chelsea. The Blues helped Selby’s dream of The Foxes sealing the glory, come true with a 2-2 draw, coming back from 2-0 down at the Stamford Bridge against Spurs.
Selby also said: “I want to also say congratulations to Claudio Ranieri and the boys. Winning the Premier League is a fantastic achievement — we are a small city.”
There are only six players who have won multiple world titles at the Crucible and Mark Selby is one of them, pocketing a check of £330,000, which is the biggest cheque in all sorts of sports isn’t a normal thing.
Selby’s early six-frame lead on Sunday made it clear that there is no way to win from this point for Ding, only Dennis Taylor came back from a greater deficit of Six frames in his 1985’s famous world final win over Steve Davis.

Ding, who was expected to be first Asian world champion in snooker, said: “It was a very bad start at 6-0, I was very nervous having not been in the final before.
“I just had to go for it, but Mark played too well.”
