While visiting the Spanish Grand Prix, Mason Mount was awkwardly challenged about his links to Manchester United. When confronted by Sky Sports’ Martin Brundle, the Chelsea player first escaped before being apprehended.

Mount, 24, has been heavily linked with the Red Devils in recent weeks as Erik ten Hag attempts to boost his team ahead of the start of the new season. The attacking midfielder is high on United’s list of transfer objectives, along with a new centre forward, if they decide to add midfield reinforcements this summer.

Ben Chilwell pleads Mason Mount to put stay at Chelsea

Mason Mount, who has one year left on his contract at Stamford Bridge and might be available for roughly £55 million, has also been linked with moves to Arsenal and Liverpool. Chelsea have to sell to make room for new players after spending almost £600 million in the last year, and Mount is one player they are willing to let go.

After Sky Sports’ Martin Brundle spoke with Mount’s Blues’ teammate Ben Chilwell, the attacking midfielder asked: “What’s he saying?”

To which the reporter responded: “He says you’re going to Manchester United.”

Mount was also asked about the possible transfer interest from United when on the grid at the Spanish GP, but he refused to say if the rumors were true or not. He stated:

“I’m here to just enjoy the race today. Amazing day, I can’t wait to watch it.”

Chilwell, on the other hand, does not want Mount to leave. Off the pitch, the two are good friends who are spending the weekend at the Spanish Grand Prix. Chilwell informed Sky Sports regarding Mount’s future when questioned about it:

“It’s none of my business personally but he is my best mate so I would love him to stay.”

Earlier in Sky’s broadcast, Reece James spoke out regarding Mason Mount’s possible exit from Stamford Bridge, after his mate sprinted away from the cameras and left Ben Chilwell to speak on his behalf. Chelsea, on the other hand, are in for a busy summer after finishing 12th last season. The Blues won just 11 Premier League games all season, finishing last for the first time in more than two decades.

And academy graduate is expected to leave Stamford Bridge this summer after apparently reaching an agreement with Manchester United. If the Red Devils wish to sign Mount, they will have to spend £70 million plus add-ons. However, Chelsea are willing to let the England star finish out his contract rather than sell him for less than his present value.

After United agreed to personal terms with Mount, the two teams had negotiations. Chelsea, on the other hand, is digging in amid interest from Liverpool, Arsenal, Bayern Munich, and other teams. While speculation over Mason Mount’s future continues, he and teammates James, 23, and Ben Chilwell are presently competing in the Formula One Spanish Grand Prix.
